Literacy & Maths Assessments
I offer non-diagnostic assessments to help identify a student’s current strengths and aspects that may need further support. These can be booked for literacy or maths and are £250. I use a mixture of standardised tests with subtest scores and qualitative tasks and discussions.
What the assessment may include:
Literacy-focused assessment
Reading accuracy and fluency
Reading comprehension
Spelling
Writing skills
Grammar and punctuation
Phonics skills (where appropriate)
Maths-focused assessment
Number sense and place value
Calculation methods
Problem-solving skills
Mathematical reasoning
Maths facts fluency
Confidence with age-related concepts
What parents and students receive
Following the assessment, I provide:
A summary of strengths and areas for development in relation to literacy or maths.
A support plan with suggested targets, practical strategies and resource suggestions to support learning at school and home.
An explanation of the results, written for the student.
Important note
These assessments are designed to be educational and supportive in nature. They are intended to guide teaching and learning and should not be considered a formal diagnosis of dyslexia or dyscalculia. If you are interested in a full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia, I can offer this and can refer on for a dyscalculia assessment.
